the village of Ceuaș (Szászcsávás in Hungarian) is about half Hethnically ungarian and Half Romani. The local Gypsy families are famous world wide for their music, and every Nov.1 they honor their families in a candle lit gathering at the Gypsy Cemetery on a hill above the village. Ioan Nucu Harleț , born in 1944 in Budești, Jud Bistrița, Transylvania, Romania. Accompanied by Zoe Aqua on second violin. Nucu is one of the last fiddlers who uses the three fingered lead style which was once widespread among Romanian folk fiddlers.

Ioan "Nucu" Harleț, Budești, Transylvania, Romania. Close up on how Ioan uses mainly three fingers to play in the older style of Transylvanian fiddling. This style has gradually disappeared as younger fiddlers copy the classical fingering of more modern lautar violinists.

Ioan "Nucu" Hartleț of Budeșsti ( born 1944) is one of the last fiddlers in the Mezőség Transylvanian style who still plays in the older fashion using mainly three fingers to note the violin, sliding to achieve different positions on the neck.

Covaci Viktor plays a well known dance melody from Maramures, with me on the "zongora"... a four string guitar (re-entrant open A chord) that is often set up with telephone wire for strings, warping the neck so much that making chords is impossible and used a rhythmic drone instead.
